Privacy policy

This policy explains how A Woman, Many Ways (the "Site") collects, uses and protects visitors' personal data. By using the Site, you confirm that you've read this policy. You give separate consent for the letters and for form data when you submit a form.

1. General

1.1. Data controller: Daria Korkishko, owner and editor of the Site ("we" or the "Controller"). Contact for any data question: hello@awomanmanyways.com.

1.2. We process data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

1.3. Personal data means any information you provide through the Site, or that's collected while you use it, that can identify you directly or indirectly.

2. What we collect

2.1. Data you give us:

• newsletter signup: your email and the site language you signed up from;

• "I want to be featured" form: your name and email, and optionally your Instagram, Telegram and a short note about yourself;

• "Let me know first" and the novel's first chapter signup: your email.

Purpose: to send letters, reply to applications, arrange interviews and tell you about new products and books.

2.2. Data collected automatically: IP address, browser type, the pages you open and the time of your visit. Our host logs this to keep the Site stable and protected from attacks. We don't use it for advertising and we don't link it to your email.

2.3. We never collect payment details. Digital products are sold on Etsy under Etsy's rules.

3. How and why we process data

3.1. We process data lawfully and fairly, only for the purposes in section 2, and we don't collect more than we need.

3.2. Legal bases: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for letters and applications; our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for technical data and site security.

3.3. You consent to the letters when you enter your email and click "Subscribe." Your consent lasts until you withdraw it, which you can do anytime with the "Unsubscribe" link in every email or by writing to hello@awomanmanyways.com.

3.4. Retention: newsletter email for as long as you're subscribed; featured-story applications up to 12 months; hosting logs usually up to 30 days.

3.5. We don't verify the data you give us and assume it's accurate. Please keep it up to date.

4. Sharing with third parties

4.1. To run the Site we use:

• Netlify, Inc. (USA): site hosting and form submissions;

• Kit (ConvertKit LLC, USA): our email service, where the subscriber list is stored.

4.2. These services process data only on our behalf and must keep it secure. Transfers to the US rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

4.3. We don't sell, rent or share your data with advertisers. We'll only disclose it if the law requires us to.

5. Cookies and browser storage

5.1. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't install third-party trackers.

5.2. The Site only stores two small technical things in your browser: your language (UA or EN) and whether you closed the "Music for reading" button. This stays on your device.

5.3. If we add visitor statistics, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent where needed.

6. Your rights

6.1. You have the right to: know what data we hold about you and where it came from; get a copy in a portable format; correct inaccurate data; ask us to delete it or restrict its use; object to processing; withdraw your consent.

6.2. To use these rights, email hello@awomanmanyways.com. We'll reply within 30 days.

7. How we protect data

7.1. We take organizational and technical steps to protect data from unauthorized access, loss, change or disclosure: the connection to the Site is encrypted (HTTPS), only we can access applications and the subscriber list, and our service accounts use strong passwords and two-factor authentication.

7.2. Services that process data on our behalf are required to keep it confidential.

8. AI-generated images

8.1. Most images on the Site were created with artificial intelligence and carry an "AI-generated" label. They don't show real people.

8.2. The exception is the photo on the About page. That's a real photo of Daria Korkishko.

9. Age

9.1. You need to be 16 or older to subscribe or send an application.

10. Changes to this policy

10.1. We may update this policy. A new version applies once it's published on this page, with the date shown at the top. We'll tell subscribers about significant changes by email.

10.2. The rules for using the Site are set out in the Terms of use.
